What types of people start urban legends about celebrities?

For instance, who would start unsubstantiated rumors like the ones about Rod Stewart having semen found in his stomach after having it pumped, or Richard Gere being taken to the emergency room to have gerbils removed from his rectum, or John Denver being a sniper in Vietnam? In fact, if anybody knows who did start these pariticular urban legends, which were passed from person-to-person, and accepted as fact, way back even before the internet became a gateway for such things, I'd like to know (as long as it's not an urban legend!)!

  13. yeah theyre low life scum bags who need to get a life other than ruining others. and they probably just told press and the press reported it b/c they are stupid and dont know what is true and what isnt. and then everyone read it and believed it b/c some scummy paparazzo wrote it down and photo shopped a picture.. sad what people believe....
  14. There can be many reasons to starting up a rumor about a celeb. -Boredom -Kids justifying rumors by boredom -People trying to make money (magizines pacifically) -People who hate the celebrity -People who just have too much time on their hands
  15. The press like to bring people up, then they love to bring them down again.... they twist, fabricate and tell half of the story, just so they can say what they WANT to about a person. Not what the actual score is. Just rumours.
