What purpose to urban legends (as a whole) serve in out society?
im having trouble finding what the purpose of an urban legend is. i need to have sources seeing as i am writing a paper for english, so if you have any liable source it would help so much write now. i cannot find anything reliable.

- What purpose? Every time you hear one, for the first time, you gasp. It's fun to get a reaction out of others. That's how they are born and that's how they spread.
- I think that urban legends serve as social reminders of why we should not veer too far from socially accepted norms or rules. They teach about the perils of messing up; making bad social choices.
